Do You Have A Fitout Project We Can Help With?
Retail Fitouts Designed Around How Your Business Actually Works
A good retail fitout is not just about making a space look impressive on opening day. It has to work for the people using it every day.
Your customers need to move through the space naturally. Your staff need practical work areas. Your products need to be displayed clearly. Storage needs to be considered properly. The finishes need to suit the brand, but they also need to stand up to daily commercial use.
At Brisbane’s RJR Shopfitting, we build retail fitouts, refurbishments and commercial spaces that can help you bring all of those details together. We are shopfitters and cabinet makers, so we can create bespoke solutions for your tenancy rather than trying to make standard fixtures fit a space they were never designed for.
Whether you are opening a new store, refreshing an existing one or rolling out a new concept across multiple locations, our team can take the project from planning through to handover.

Built For The Realities Of Retail
Retail projects often come with pressure. Opening dates are already advertised. Centre access can be restricted. Noise rules apply. Tenancies can come with old services, hidden site issues or base builder delays. The space still has to be finished properly, and the business still needs to start trading on time.
That is where proper planning and experienced trades make a big difference.
On the JB Hi-Fi Queen Street Mall project, RJR was handed the site a week behind schedule because the base builder was running behind. The team took on extra base builder works as well as their own scope so the client could open and begin trading on time, handing the job over a day before the required handover date.
That is the type of experience you want behind a project when the opening date cannot move.
Some Of Our Retail Projects
JB Hi-Fi Retail Fitout, Queen Street Mall & Strathpine
Being in the middle of Brisbane’s CBD, the JB Hi-Fi Queen Street Mall shopfit needed special pre-planning from the start. The client had already spent thousands of dollars advertising the opening, so the priority was very clear. The store had to open on time and to budget.
After being handed the site behind schedule, RJR provided extra shopfitters, took on additional works and completed a broad scope including structural steel, electrical, data, air conditioning, security, plastering, suspended ceilings, flooring, signage, fire services and glazing. The project was handed over a day early.

Pandora Retail Fitout, Queen Street Mall Brisbane
The Pandora Queen Street Mall fitout needed detailed installation, quality joinery and a finish that suited a premium jewellery retailer.
The building was heritage-listed, and the Queen Street Mall location meant noise restrictions, public safety and working in harmony with Brisbane City Council were all part of the job. RJR delivered the fitout on time, to budget and to the satisfaction of the building owner, Council and the client.

Optus Retail Refurbishment, Westfield Chermside
The Optus Chermside refurbishment was a fast-paced retail project with a 14-day turnaround after demolition so the store could resume trading within the required timeframe.
The job involved removing the existing joinery, ceilings, shopfront and tiled floor before starting the new fitout. One of the key features was the floating tables suspended from the ceiling, supported by a full structural steel framework installed within the tenancy.
The new shopfront used Charcoal Zenolite, glass above and an interactive TV built into the shopfront column. This was the first Optus design of its kind built in Queensland.

Beko Showroom Fitout, Ormeau And National Display Rollout
RJR Shopfitting was awarded the contract to design, supply and install modular appliance displays for Beko’s major Australian product launch. The brief was to adapt Beko’s existing concepts for the Australian market while keeping strong company branding.
The finished showroom used LED lighting reflections, perspex, a high-quality 2pac finish and simple background colours to showcase the Beko blue logo. RJR was then asked to design Beko’s main Gold Coast showroom, which included five working demonstration spaces for presentations and product use.

Chemist Warehouse Retail Fitout, Rocklea
The Chemist Warehouse Rocklea project shows why early site surveys matter.
The previous tenants were a commercial butcher and seafood supplier, leaving behind freezers, major concrete works, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, joinery and counters that all had to be removed or rectified before the new fitout could begin.
RJR managed the 800m² project from site surveys and major demolition through to a fully fitted and functional chemist over a seven-week program. The project was delivered on time and on budget, giving the client a smoother experience despite the site challenges.

Bespoke Cabinet Making And Detailed Joinery
This is where RJR has a real advantage.
Because we are cabinet makers as well as shopfitters, we can create pieces that are made for the space, not just installed into it. That might include display counters, product walls, service desks, shelving, storage, feature panels, floating tables or detailed joinery that needs to be manufactured with precision.
For retailers, this means the fitout can be built around how the business actually operates. The public-facing areas can support the brand, while the practical areas can support the staff, stock and day-to-day workflow.
A strong retail fitout comes down to the details. The display heights. The storage. The counter positions. The way customers move. The way staff work. The finish on the joinery. The way the lighting hits the product. The parts customers notice and the parts they never see, but your team relies on every day.
RJR’s experience includes detailed joinery projects such as The Way of Tea, where the fitout included sheet metal reveals and trims, recessed copper panels with detailed grooving, solid timber and architectural fittings manufactured with zero tolerance.
That level of detail is what makes a fitout feel resolved rather than simply finished.
